Before this goes any further I feel like we need to dispel the notion of what a "tanky" character in GW2 is. Unlike most traditional MMOs that have a beefy tank that builds all health and armor, GW2 PvE content revolves around doing the most damage possible and avoiding attacks via dodge or block. It actually the complete opposite Hybrid builds for Soulbeast in particular are the best damage Ranger can achieve. This is due to how a lot of the traits and weapons have condition based attacks. I mean main hand Axe is a crazy good weapon for hybrid with good power coefficients and tones of bleed on Axe 2. .A solo build for PvE capable of:. a) Dealing damage (not the most - but much) - If power or condition does not matter! b) Being able to face most of the HOT-Veterans and overall some champions; c) Being able to do some dungeons without being a millstone around the neck (No high fractals or raids! Just random-group-dungeons) Necro is good for casual raids but bad for speed runs. However since the meta is based on speedrunning strats, it can be hard to find accepting groups.For anything else PvE, necro is one of the best classes.
